The first error though confuses me because in VS2012 the ToolsVersion is 4.0 so it seems unlikely that it jumped up to version 12.0 but stranger things have happened. All new types are defined in inttypes.h header (cinttypes header in C++) and also are available at stdint.h header (cstdint header in C++).
